Our goal is clear: to use the exam strength to make a sustainable impact. For young and old. Because we are never done learning. Maya Angelou expressed it beautifully: "When you know better, you do better."
The more we know and understand, the better we are able to act on it. Together we are working towards a future where learning and living go hand in hand with caring for our planet.
Who we are
A non-profit initiative supported by provinces and businesses
The Climate Exam is a non-profit initiative from Darel Education and is supported by the Dutch Water Authority and the provinces of Noord-Holland, Utrecht, Zeeland, and Zuid-Holland. We collaborate with various (knowledge) partners and have an examination board to ensure the quality of the exam.

By informing and involving our employees in the climate challenges, we strengthen our role as a climate pioneer and take steps towards a climate-neutral province by 2050.''

Edition 2024
The first edition
The first Climate Exam was organised at 11 locations. From Almelo to Heerde and from Den Bosch to Utrecht, over 400 candidates took on the challenge. The Climate Exam was also well received online, with no fewer than 10,000 candidates taking the climate test on their phone. Given the many positive responses, we will continue in 2025!
